First HR Plates are produced by the new Sheet Shearing Line at SAIL Rourkela

On April 22, 2023, the New State-of-the-Art Sheet Shearing Line of Hot Strip Mill-2 of SAIL-Rourkela Steel Plant flagged off with the first shipment of HR Plates. The first shipment of hot-rolled plates from SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant’s Hot Strip Mill-2’s (HSM-2) brand-new, state-of-the-art Sheet Shearing Line (SSL).

In the presence of Mr. S. R. Suryawanshi, ED (Works), Mr. P. K. Satapathy, ED (P&A), Mr. P. K. Sahoo, and many others, Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP, flagged off the consignment.

Two railroad waggons were loaded with a total of 19 HR Plate Packets, weighing a combined 126.5 tonnes, in preparation for delivery to the Ballabgarh Stockyard. With a maximum bundle/packet weight of 10 tonnes, the SSL can cut HR Coils with a width of 1000 mm to 2000 mm, a thickness range of 5 mm to 20 mm, and a cut length of 4 m to 13 m.
