After setting a target of 398 in the first semifinal of the competition, India defeated New Zealand on Wednesday in Mumbai by 70 runs.
After winning the toss at the Wankhede Stadium, India amassed 397 for four wickets thanks to a brilliant 105 from Shreyas Iyer and Kohli’s 117.
Shami claimed his third five-wicket haul of the tournament with final scores of seven for 57.
India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, scored 47 runs in the opening stand with Shubman Gill, giving the hosts a jolly start.
