Man stabbed to death in Sector-21, Rourkela on Tuesday

On Tuesday, a man named-Pintu Srivastava, an auto-rickshaw driver, was stabbed to death by a miscreant in front of Sawmill, Sector 21, Rourkela. He was declared brought dead at Rourkela Government Hospital, Rourkela. The miscreant, Mahendra Jena of Timber colony, has been arrested by Police.

According to eye witnesses account, around 12 pm, Pintu was moving out of the Sawmill Basti when he saw Jena using abusive language. He objected to this behavior and asked him not to do so as women were around. This led to a scuffle between the two, and Jena took out a knife and stabbed Pintu’s neck. Onlookers were able to catch hold of Jena, who was later taken by the local police.

Family members have denied any past incident involving Pintu and Mahendra Jena. The post mortem of Pintu’s body will be done on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the police and the forensic team were seen on the spot looking for more details into the case.
