SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has been declared as the winner in the Environment Protection category at GreenTech Corporate Governance Conclave and Awards 2021, held at Mahabalipuram on 26th November 2021.

To protect the environment and meet the compliance standards, the RSP has an Environmental Engineering Department and environment laboratory that monitors air quality and water quality. In addition, it also has an online monitoring system that is server linked to the Central Pollution Control Board, Govt. of India and State Pollution Control Board, Govt. of Odisha. These monitoring system continuously monitors water and air pollutants that helps in taking preventive steps to minimize environmental pollution.
Established in 2000, GreenTech Foundation is a non-profit organization that primarily focuses on environment and energy. It regularly conducts workshops and conferences on the technical, scientific and practical aspects of climate change, environment protection and safety at work place.
