Twitter started removing the blue checkmarks from user profiles on Thursday, which led to some well-known people losing their verified statuses, including Beyonce and Pope Francis.

With the introduction of Twitter Blue, only subscribers will be able to access some brand-new features and have a blue checkmark next to their names.Later, the CEO of the business said that he is “personally paying” for some celebrities’ Twitter Blue subscriptions in order to maintain their checkmark.

Bill Gates, a co-founder of Microsoft, former US President Donald Trump, and reality TV celebrity Kim Kardashian all lost their verified badges.

Big personalities that have lost their blue ticks on the social media platform controlled by Elon Musk include Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt. Politicians like Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, as well as players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, among others, no longer have the blue verified tick next to their names on Twitter.
